Ryan Cameron announces he will be leaving V-103

The radio personality announced his departure on the V103 morning show as well as on his Instagram Story.

ATLANTA - Ryan Cameron, long-time morning radio host for V-103, 'the people's station', announced on his Instagram Story that he will be leaving the station.

Cameron hinted that he'd be sharing his big announcement on Twitter early Friday morning.

Freida Johnson, HR Manager for Entercom Atlanta, confirmed the announcement with 11Alive.

Cameron said on his story that he is not planning on leaving for another radio station but that he will be branching out and pursuing other endeavors.

"I hope that in all of these years that I have been here that I have inspired you guys to know that, it doesn't matter if you didn't graduate college. It doesn't matter if you don't have a college degree, it doesn't matter if you're the 'C' student at the back of the classroom as I was at Campbell High School but also the class president. What matters is, is that I wanted to do this and now it's time for another chapter in my life."

Cameron simultaneously announced his departure from the people's station on his morning radio show and regaled his time with V-103.

"I said, when I got here, that I wanted to do something that hadn't been done, is have an Atlanta-native sit here in this chair, and that's what I did. I am the second youngest person to go into the Radio Hall Of Fame. I've been number one in day parts on different stations, afternoons, nights, mornings, including here, evenings; it doesn't matter," he said.

"I have done everything I can do in this field. I am telling Atlanta, today, that I am going to be moving on to something else. I am going to be doing something that is outside of radio. I am not going to be going to another station. I'm always a part of the V-103 family. I went to the Hall Of Fame as a member of V-103."

11Alive Traffic Tracker, Crash Clark, worked with Cameron for nearly 20 years while they both meddled in the world of radio

Twitter was abuzz with shock and sent Cameron their well-wishes.

Cameron thanks his fans and friends for the love and support he received in his many years in the industry and says he was presented with a new opportunity that "a lot of people of color" do not get a chance to get into.

"If I have inspired even a small percentage of people, to better yourself than you were before, from all my years of being on the radio then, I've done my job," Cameron said.

Cameron revealed that he would be able to be a partner in an 'already successful business,' not just as an employee.

The popular Atlanta radio host will be truly missed.
