SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. — Georgia Power crews are working to clean up after a tree toppled onto some power lines in Sandy Springs on Tuesday.
Sandy Springs Police said Mt. Vernon Highway is closed between Glen Errol Road and Whitner Driver. The location is near Mount Vernon Baptist Church and Springmont School.
As of Tuesday night, crews were still on scene after several hours-- working to clear the road.
"Our biggest concern right now is the high winds," a spokesperson for Georgia Power said. "It's really important to stay away from any downed power lines."
Earlier in the day, multiple utility poles were damaged as a result of the downed trees, the police department said.
