Multiple people seriously hurt in Cobb County crash, police say

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — The Cobb County Police Department is investigating a car crash that left five people hurt, including a 10-year-old, on Sunday evening. 

According to a news release, the department is looking into a serious injury crash that happened on Cobb Parkway at its intersection with Progressive Way on March 17 just before 7:30 p.m.

Preliminary investigation revealed a black 2012 Nissan 350Z was going north on Cobb Parkway, approaching the intersection at Progressive Way. At the same time, a black 2022 Hyundai Elantra was going south and entered the left turning lane for Progressive Way. The Hyundai then turned left at the intersection and crossed the path of the Nissan. The Nissan then hit the Hyundai. 

The Nissan then hit a traffic signal pole, according to police. 

The 36-year-old Hyundai driver was sent to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police. The other two people in the car injured were a 38-year-old and a 10-year-old. Police said the child was sent to the hospital with critical injuries.

Police said the 22-year-old driver of the Nissan is recovering at a hospital. There was also a 19-year-old passenger with critical injuries.
