4 students, driver injured after Jeep crashes into school bus in Hall County, GSP says

Here is what we know at this time.

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — A school bus crash has left multiple students injured on a busy road in Hall County as students were being dropped off for the weekend on Friday afternoon, deputies said.

None of the students' injuries were life-threatening, the Hall County Sheriff's Office said. The crash happened along Barrett Road in Gainesville, shutting it down near Dorsey Peek Road following the accident.

Georgia State Patrol said that a Jeep Compass Sport was driving west on Barrett Road while the school bus was stopped with its stop sign and red lights activated while going east on the same road.

Troopers said when the driver of the Jeep saw the bus, they slammed on the brakes, veered off the road and hit a mailbox before traveling back onto the road and colliding with the school bus, disabling both the bus and the Jeep.

Four students were injured along with the bus driver. The driver and the two passengers of the Jeep suffered minor injuries, troopers said. The driver of the Jeep was cited for failure to maintain lane and failure to stop for school bus loading or unloading, according to GSP.
