BANKS COUNTY, Ga. — Two people were killed during a shooting involving Forsyth County deputies Tuesday morning near Alto in Banks County, according to the Georgia Bureau Of Investigation.

The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said its deputies were in Banks County serving a warrant to a sex offender who violated his probation conditions. The residence, the GBI said, was along Cedar Drive. Forsyth County deputies went there around 9:30 a.m.

The shooting occurred after Forsyth County deputies entered the home around 11:05 a.m. The GBI said the two people, who were shot by deputies, died at the scene.

On Wednesday, officials identified the victims as 45-year-old Joshua Everett Emmett and 33-year-old Meagan Victoria Feaster.

Agents also added that none of the Forsyth County deputies were injured. The Banks County Sheriff's Office was only at the location to provide support and were not directly involved in the incident, the GBI said.

In accordance with its policy, the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said an internal investigation will be conducted into the incident.

The GBI will also continue the independent investigation. Upon completion, it will be given to the Banks County District Attorney’s Office for review.
