Man shot in leg by Gwinnett Police officer after pulling gun on stepdaughter's mom, police say

Gwinnett Police said it happened near the 300 block of Foxcroft Road in Lawrenceville.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — An investigation is underway following a shooting involving law enforcement on Saturday, according to Gwinnett County Police Department.

Gwinnett County Police said they received a 911 call from a teenage girl around 10:20 a.m., in which the teen said her stepfather had pulled out a gun during an argument with her mom. The first officer responded four minutes after the call came in.

When the officer arrived, he could hear the argument coming from the back yard of the house. As he was walking up, he heard a gunshot ring out, police said. When the officer got to the back yard, he saw the suspect holding a gun, standing in the yard.

The officer yelled out for the man to drop it, but he then confronted the officer with the gun, police said. The officer then shot the man in the leg, police said. The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Nobody else was injured at the home.

Police provided an update on the situation in a Saturday afternoon press conference:
