CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A woman is in custody after a shooting on Flint River Road in Riverdale Wednesday afternoon.
According to detectives, the incident began as an argument in another location between the suspect and the father of her child. They added that during that fight, the father took her phone and left.
The suspect eventually tracked her phone to the address of the father's "female acquaintance." There, a car chase began between both individuals, eventually leading to the intersection of Flint River Road and Thomas Road.
At that point, the suspect pulled up to the other woman's car and fired into the vehicle, striking the acquaintance. The father was unharmed and fled the vehicle on foot.
Detectives then said two female bystanders who saw the incident offered aid to the woman shot, while the suspect continued her pursuit.
Less than an hour later, officers said the Morrow Police Department located the suspect in a Walmart parking lot and took her into custody.
She is now being charged with:
- 2 counts of aggravated assault
- Possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime
- Reckless Conduct
Upon researching her criminal history, police found that the suspect was also "amidst proceedings in a neighboring county for the charge of aggravated assault."
Officers add that the female victim remains in a local area hospital. Her injuries are non-life-threatening and she is expected to make a full recovery.
