Man shot in front of girlfriend while visiting Atlanta gas station

When officers and Grady emergency responders got there, they found the man; they said he had been shot 'multiple' times.

ATLANTA — A man is recovering in the hospital after police said he was shot in front of his girlfriend while stopping at a gas station early Friday morning.

Police responded to a Shell gas station / Circle K convenience store in the 1800 block of Piedmont Road NE, between Cheshire Bridge and Interstate 85, just after 12:30 a.m. after getting reports of a person shot. When officers and Grady emergency responders got there, they found the man; they said he had been shot "multiple" times.

An 11Alive crew reported that the man had been lying next to a white BMW sedan parked by the front door of the Circle K.

EMS drove the man to Grady Hospital, where he was last listed as stable. Information on his identity were not immediately available.

Video from the scene showed a Grady ambulance driving off from the scene with an Atlanta police cruiser following behind.

Details about what happened are still under investigation, but police said early information shows that the man was with his girlfriend when he stopped at the convenience store to make a purchase. At some point, police said another man approached him and fired several rounds before driving off from the property in what police described as a red sedan.

At this time, the suspect is still outstanding. Police did not have any description available at this time, nor did they have a motive. The shooting is still under investigation.
