LITHONIA, Ga. — Three people jumped to safety after a fire broke out at a two-story home in DeKalb County, according to fire officials on Saturday.
Crews with DeKalb County Fire Rescue Department were dispatched around 4 a.m. to a home on Silver Spur Drive where reports said someone was trapped.
When firefighters arrived, they said heavy flames were coming from the side of the home. A fire commander said three people jumped from the house and that an older woman needed to be rescued from the second-story balcony.
Fire officials said they were able to get her to safety and also saved a dog from the fire. Four people were taken to the hospital, and DeKalb Fire said the fire's cause is still under investigation.
