AUSTELL, Ga. — The parent company of Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water in Cobb County said it will conduct a "comprehensive review" of its 42 parks following its summer merger with theme park operator Cedar Fair, and will consider selling some of them.
Six Flags Entertainment Corp. on Wednesday announced objectives of "Project Accelerate," a long-range plan whose five objectives include "portfolio optimization," according to its fourth-quarter earnings release.
Six Flags said it will conduct a “comprehensive review of the portfolio to evaluate the potential divestiture of non-core assets to help reduce leverage," according to its third-quarter investors presentation.
The company has not said whether Six Flags Over Georgia or Six Flags White Water are likely to be sold.
In July, Arlington, Texas-based Six Flags and Sandusky, Ohio-based Cedar Fair completed a $2 billion merger and relocated the combined company's headquarters to Charlotte, North Carolina.
