Both families devastated after shooting kills teen, injures man

The families of both of the men involved are heartbroken.

ATLANTA - Two families are heartbroken after a southwest Atlanta shooting left a teenager dead and another man fighting for his life.

According to Atlanta police homicide commander Lt. Carven Tyus, the incident happened at 10 p.m. Wednesday. When officers arrived to Drummond Street, they found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.

Quindarious Billinger, who is in his early 20s, was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Jamon Browder, 18 of Conyers, was killed.

"Any time you hear that maybe a loved one is deceased, it's really emotional for their family members," said Lt. Tyus.

According to witnesses, the two people were involved in some sort of altercation that quickly escalated into gunfire. Police said the incident was an attempted robbery.

Browder went by the nickname "Bam," according to a friend. "Bam’s” family described the teen as a good kid who loved his family and was the life of the party.

Billinger's family hopes he recovers soon. They describe him as a hardworking man who works multiple jobs to take care of his family, and said he didn’t deserve to get shot.
