ATLANTA (WXIA) -- A pedestrian was pronounced dead on arrival at Grady Memorial Hospital after being struck by an Atlanta police car in southwest Atlanta on Friday evening.
It happened at about 9:30 p.m., on Metropolitan Parkway at Fair Drive in southwest Atlanta.
Atlanta Police officers on the scene told 11Alive's Jeremy Campbell that the officer was driving on Metropolitan Parkway when he struck the pedestrian. There was not a crosswalk at the location where the person was struck.
The officer stopped and called for an ambulance to take the pedestrian to Grady Memorial Hospital. The person was pronounced dead on arrival.
Atlanta Police said they would provide additional details as their investigation continues.
