Police: One person shot in southwest Atlanta neighborhood

The shooting happened a few blocks from the Oakland City MARTA station

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are looking for a suspect that they said was driving a Porsche after a person was shot in a southwest Atlanta neighborhood Sunday morning.

It happened near the corner of White Oak Avenue and Peeples Street, only a few blocks from the Oakland City MARTA station, shortly before 8 a.m.

According to Atlanta Police Investigator James White, when officers arrived, they found a male with a gunshot wound to the leg.

He was alert, conscious and breathing when he was transported to Atlanta Medical Center, White said.

The victim told investigators he had heard gunshots in the area, and when he had gone outside to take a look, he was struck.

White said police were looking for a suspect described as tall, thin black male with a medium complexion, driving a Porsche.

The police investigation remains underway.
