ATLANTA — A popular Atlanta Caribbean restaurant's location on Cascade Road was damaged early Thursday in a fire.

Crews responded to Spice House at 2247 Cascade Road around 1:30 a.m. to control the fire, which damaged much of the inside of the building according to reports from the scene.

The fire is still being investigated and there was no initial word on what may have caused it. The full extent of the damage at the restaurant was not immediately known.

Spice House also operates other locations in Midtown, Buckhead and Lithonia. The Cascade Road location was the restaurant's first in operation back in 2017.

The Spice House website describes the restaurant's focus: "The menu was developed from distinct dishes from some of the selected islands in the Caribbean including; Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad and the Bahamas. Spice House focuses on unparalleled service and giving guest an unparalleled fine dining experience."

The website Atlanta Mom in August named it one of the seven best Jamaican restaurants in the city.
