GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — A DeKalb County woman has been taken into custody after allegedly making threatening calls to 911 over the course of three days.
Police in Gwinnett said the county's 911 center received the first call on Tuesday around 3:40 p.m. In that call, a woman who identified herself only as "Jessica" said she was across the street from Gwinnett's South Precinct at 2180 Stone Drive. She then said that "a lot of people are going to die today."
Thirty minutes later, police said another call came from the same number. The caller didn't identify herself this time but said that she was "going to kill everyone at the South Precinct with an AK-47," according to police.
However, the threats didn't stop there. On Wednesday, police said 911 again received a call - this time around 7:30 p.m. - from a woman claiming she had a bomb at the Lowe's at 4855 Stone Mountain Highway outside of Lilburn. The location is across the street from South Precinct. She then said that "everyone was going to die" according to police.
A similar call came in on Thursday from the same number - this time around 9 a.m. where the caller said there was a bomb inside the same hardware store. In both cases, police searched the store and found no that the threats were false.
The suspect, later identified as 35-year-old Jheri Leil Polite of Lithonia, was taken into custody.
Gwinnett Police said the lead detective was able to identify a possible name and phone number tied to the woman. So, Gwinnett Police said on Friday that they went to her home where she was placed under arrest.
Polite was charged with terroristic threats and transmitting a false public alarm. She's now in Gwinnett County Jail.
