DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Smoke was seen billowing for miles after a large grass fire broke out near Stone Mountain Park on Monday afternoon.
DeKalb Fire said its crews are working the fire along with firefighters with Stone Mountain Park Fire and Georgia Forestry. The fire has been extinguished, but crews are still working on hot spots.
Officials said the fire started in a Georgia Power easement area-- behind a home on Historic Way. The flames burned two large grass areas, DeKalb Fire added.
There are homes in the area, but they are not in danger from the flames, according to DeKalb Fire officials.
