CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. -- North Clayton Middle School was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday afternoon.
Clayton County Schools spokesman Charles White said the lockdown was put in place shortly before noon after a weapon was found on campus.
School officials said several students reported seeing a classmate carrying a toy BB gun. That student was ultimately taken into custody and charged with bringing the weapon to school.
White said the school was on lockdown for about half an hour.
It is the third time a weapon was found on a metro Atlanta school campus this week. A student admitted to bringing an unloaded handgun to Lovejoy High School on Wednesday, while two boys tried to hide an Airsoft gun in a bathroom ceiling at Yeager Middle School in Douglasville on Tuesday.
