No injuries reported after robbery suspect leads authorities on short chase, sideswipes school bus: Marietta Police

Here's what we know.

MARIETTA, Ga. — A robbery suspect is in custody after a short chase ended in a school bus crash Tuesday afternoon, according to Marietta Police.

Authorities said it happened near the intersection of Franklin at Cobb Parkway. 

No one was seriously injured after the crash, police said there were there were 18 students on the school bus at the time that it was sideswiped. Three students said they had soreness but they were checked out with no injuries, police added.

It all started when Marietta Police said a couple found a used car for $5,000 on Facebook Marketplace. Authorities said the seller held a screwdriver at them and then took off with the car and money. 

The couple told police they followed from a safe distance and called 911. Officers said they found the suspect and a short chase ensued. The suspect then sideswiped the school bus, police added.

Marietta Police said the man has been booked into jail and will face charges. No other details were released at this time.
