LILBURN, Ga. -- The man accused of killing a Lilburn Walmart security guard appeared in court on Tuesday as police revealed new information about the investigation.
Police say Boaz Fordyce killed J.D. Ferguson while trying to steal televisions April 10. Fordyce, who was arrested on April 12, is facing charges including felony murder, aggravated assault, and felony shoplifting.
The lead investigator testified that the day after Ferguson was killed, Fordyce tried to sell a car and pawn a gun allegedly used in the incident.
The investigators also revealed that a confidential informant connected police with Fordyce's girlfriend. That informant allowed police to listen in on a phone conversation that helped them get more information.
On Tuesday, the judge gave Fordyce a court-appointed attorney.
