ROSWELL, Ga. — Rapper and songwriter T-Pain, whose real name is Faheem Najm, was the victim of an early morning hit-and-run crash at a Roswell intersection on Monday, according to police.
"I know people are struggling, things are hard, and times are rough these days," Najm said in an Instagram video. "But whoever just hit me, my wife, my road manager and my driver and drove off ... life's about to get so much worse for you."
Around 1 a.m., Roswell Police officers responded to a vehicle crash with injuries at Highway 92 and King Road. According to the Roswell Police Department, the driver reported back injuries and difficulties breathing.
"You drove off -- that was the worst part. It wasn't even the wreck," Najm said. "I had so much to do tonight. (This) threw my schedule off. Thank God I'm alive, but now my driver has to get hauled off."
Fortunately, aside from the driver's injuries, no other injuries were reported from this crash.
The early morning scene showed EMS treating T-Pain's driver, with doors to their 2023 Chevy Suburban thrown open in addition to the grill from the suspect's car lying in the street.
However, the suspect did not make a clean getaway. Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle shortly after the crash with the use of FLOCK cameras.
According to a police report obtained by 11Alive, "the vehicle had heavy damage to the front and had airbag deployment. The odor of alcohol was coming from within the vehicle. There was two full bottles of corona extra in the passenger side floor board along with an empty bottle of corona extra. There was 9 additional full bottles of corona extra found within the middle console."
Investigating officers found multiple receipts in the car, which led them to a Woodstock home on Arnold Mill Road. Roswell Police officers then reached out for assistance from Cherokee County deputies to check the residence.
Deputies located the suspect, who admitted to having multiple beers that night, with the keys to the suspect vehicle in his pocket. "Officers speaking with (the suspect) also noticed that he had urinated on himself."
The suspect agreed to a breathalyzer test, which revealed his blood alcohol concentration was .154. Officers took the suspect into custody without incident and transported him to North Fulton Hospital due to the accident.
After having medical clearance, the suspect was transported to the Alpharetta Annex for booking.
