New owners to take over nearly 100-year-old The Colonnade

The Colonnade, Atlanta's famous southern restaurant, hit the market in early August for over $900,000.

ATLANTA — A nearly 100-year-old beloved restaurant has new owners, according to restaurant broker Steven Josovitz with The Shumacher Group.

The Colonnade, Atlanta's famous southern restaurant, hit the market in early August for over $900,000.

According to Josovitz, it was established in 1927 in a white-columned house at the corner of Lindbergh and Piedmont until 1962, when it moved to its current location on Cheshire Bridge Road.

The restaurant serves traditional Southern cuisine, including fried chicken and sides such as black-eyed peas, collard greens and fried okra. It's among a group of classic Atlanta restaurants that includes The Busy Bee Cafe and Mary Mac's Tea Room.

According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the new owners, Paul Donahue and Lewis Jefferies, are longtime customers and restaurateurs.

Donahue and Jefferies co-founded the Lingering Shade, according to the report.

Our partners added the owners don't want to make any changes but hope to "generate more buzz" for the restaurant.
