WINDER, Ga. — A train collided with an occupied vehicle Thursday morning in Winder, officials confirmed.
The crash happened at around 10 a.m. on Broad Street near East May Street and a McDonald's restaurant.
There were no injuries to the occupant of the vehicle or to the train crew, CSX said.
Winder Police said the motorist who stopped on the track was charged with a violation that caused the crash.
For about an hour, Horton Street crossing near Hill’s Ace Hardware was the only intersection in the city open for crossing, police said.
"We appreciate everyone's patience. One hour to resolve a train collision is actually very fast," Winder Police said.
"CSX appreciates the swift response by the local emergency responders who cleared the scene. Train operations were able to resume by 11:30," CSX said in a statement.
