DORAVILLE, Ga. — Editor's note: This story has been updated to reflect new information from officials.
Two people are dead, and another is seriously hurt following a crash in DeKalb County near the train tracks.
According to the DeKalb County Fire and Rescue Department, the crash involved only one car near train tracks on Flowers Road and School Drive in Doraville.
Fire officials said a train conductor saw a body lying on the tracks and called officials around 8 a.m.
When fire officials arrived, they said two people had died, and another was in critical condition. Fire officials said one person was thrown from the car onto the tracks. Information about who was in the car or how the crash happened has not been released.
“I definitely think some more lighting, " Stephany Tenorio, a resident, said. "Maybe putting some type of signage out there would be great and helpful to all the people of Doraville.”
Officials previously said the crash involved the train but following further investigation, fire officials said it did not.
