ATLANTA — A 7-year-old boy got a frightening scare when a tree came crashing through his bedroom during overnight storms, according to Atlanta Fire and Rescue.
Crews said they arrived at the scene just after midnight, along with Grady EMS.
The child said he was scratched by the tree on his back and face but was not seriously hurt. Nevertheless, Atlanta Fire and Rescue said he went to the hospital just in case.
11Alive spoke to the boy's father, who noted he was in the shower when he heard the loud crash that the tree made as it broke through the roof.
The family also told us that they had been renting the home since December and this is not the first time that a tree has fallen on the property. As a result, they've asked their landlord to remove more trees to prevent further incidents.
