WINDER, Ga. – Tripp Halstead is recovering after successful surgery on Wednesday.
Halstead suffered a traumatic brain injury when a tree limb fell on him at his daycare in 2012. His mother's emotional Facebook posts have attracted a nationwide following that is now at 1.2 million.
Stacy Halstead said hip surgery on her son went well and that he's doing excellent. She also shared some pictures of the new hardware now holding his hips in place, so he can bend and move with ease as he heals.
Tripp will be in the hospital for about a week and then he'll spend about 10 weeks recovering at home, his mother said.
The surgery is the first of three planned for this year. Tripp is scheduled to have spine and head surgery in April and June.
