TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — At least two students were taken to the hospital and another person was injured after a school bus was involved in a crash with a log truck that overturned in Troup County Thursday afternoon, deputies said.
It happened just after 4 p.m. near the intersection of West Point Road and Pegasus Parkway, which is just outside of LaGrange.
According to the Troup County School District, at least two students were taken to the hospital Those injured are expected to be OK.
The school district also added more details about the crash. Officials said that the log truck hit the right side of the bus.
Troup County deputies said the area is completely blocked, and drivers should find an alternate route. It is unclear when the area will reopen.
The Troup County School District released the following statement below:
The Troup County School System Transportation Department was notified of a school bus accident late this afternoon. What we know at this time is a log truck hit the right side of the school bus.
The bus was transporting three students during the time of the accident. We currently do not know of any major injuries, but two of the students were taken to the hospital as a precaution. A Troup County School System administrator assisted one of the students to the hospital until parents could arrive.
