TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — Two high school students are in critical condition, and three others are injured after a crash in Troup County on Thursday afternoon, Georgia State Patrol said.

According to GSP, troopers were dispatched to a serious injury crash in Troup County on Hogansville Road at 12:30 p.m. A black 2008 Volkswagen Tiguan drove through an intersection after stopping at a stop sign on Whitfield Road. A white Ram Pickup towing utility trailer was traveling north on Hogansville Road.

Troup County School System confirmed Friday that there were five students in the Tiguan and that they all attend Troup County High School.

GSP said that the driver of the Tiguan failed to yield and was hit on the passenger side by the Ram 3500. The Tiguan was hit off the road, and two back passengers were ejected. Those passengers were airlifted to Grady Hospital and are currently listed in critical condition. The age of the passengers is unknown at this time.

The Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is helping with the investigation.
