Man found shot dead in Union City neighborhood

UNION CITY, Ga. — Police say one person has died after being shot to death in Union City, Sunday.

According to a preliminary statement from police, officers were called to the area of Highpoint Road and Stonewall Drive around 7:30 p.m.. to reports of a shooting.

Officers arrived to find the victim already unresponsive from "apparent gunshot wounds." The department's criminal investigation unit and crime scene unit are now investigating the crime trying to uncover any hidden details.

Police haven't identified the victim pending notification of family. Investigators also haven't released the names of any possible suspects in the deadly shooting - or if they have anyone in mind for the crime at all right now.

Based on the address provided by police, the area of the town where the shooting happened appears to be largely residential.

The Union City Police Department said they intend to provide an update in the investigation Monday morning.
