ATLANTA — A popular cidery along Howell Mill Road is closing its doors after eight years in business.
Urban Tree Cidery announced on social media that it will permanently close its tasting room on Sunday, May 19.
"It has truly been our honor to craft amazing ciders and to share that passion with our fellow cidery lovers in West Midtown since 2016. In those years we have created incredible memories and met so many amazing people that contributed to our success," the business wrote on Instagram. "We are forever grateful."
The cidery will remain open now through May 19 -- the tasting room will be open during its normal business hours.
Urban Tree Cidery is Atlanta's first cidery. The business makes its ciders from scratch by harvesting and pressing the apples by hand. The juice is then fermented, filtered, and aged.
Back in 2022, the cidery was voted the No. 1 cidery in the United States, according to a USA Today report.
"While the tasting room is going away, our ciders are still being manufactured and will continue to be available at local restaurants, grocery, retail and package stores," the cidery wrote. "Thank you for the years of continued support and cheers to the next chapter of our Urban Tree brand!"
