SUV riddled with bullets crashes into DeKalb County home, driver wounded, police say

It happened at a home on Ashley Lane, just off of Alford Road.

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police in DeKalb County are investigating after a SUV slammed into a house on Ashley Lane, with a person shot inside.

Neighbors tell 11Alive's Tracey Amick Peer that the victim was a father driving his 2 sons to school around 8am when it happened.

Annittra Rutledge was in her home when the victim started banging on the door for help.

"It was the victim and the two sons and he brought them in the house," said Rutledge. She says he had multiple gunshot wounds.

"He had one in his head, one in his side, and one in his cheek (bottom)," said Rutledge.

Police believe a suspect fired several rounds into the vehicle, striking the driver and causing them to hit another car, before both ran into the home, according to police.

Supreme Roberts said it was his daughter's car that was hit by the victim's car and pushed into the house.

"That's how people get killed from being in your house- you come through the neighborhood shooting? It's unreal," said Roberts

Police said that the house is still structurally sound and that the victim shot was transported to the hospital in serious condition. No other injuries were reported and no one is in custody, they said.

The street the home is on is just off Alford Road.
