After getting home from a party, Myriam's boyfriend made toast with peanut butter, then kissed Myriam goodnight

You've probably seen this online.

There are dozens of post circulating on social media about dogs and peanut butter.

The post claims that some sugar-free and diet peanut butters can be poisonous to our four-legged friends.

Is this true?

Dr. Jason Nicholas, Veterinarian and President of Preventive Vet, helped us verify if the posts are true or not.

"It certainly can be," he said. "If it contains Xylitol, peanut butter can be very dangerous."

"That can lead to seizures, coma and then in slightly higher amounts of Xylitol, it can destroy a dog's liver cells and both of those things can be fatal," Dr. Nicholas said.

The post is verified.

So dog owners, be sure to check your peanut ingredients before feeding it to your pups.
