Fire crews are responding to a fire at a Cobb County high school.
The situation began unfolding around 4:50 p.m. on the campus of Walton High School off Bill Murdock Road in Marietta.
According to Cobb County fire officials, the fire started on top of a new construction section at the school after insulation caught fire. Crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading and got it under control moments later, around 5:20.
In a statement from the Cobb County School District, officials said there were no students or staff located in the affected area, and the fire has been extinguished with no significant damage.
Students and staff should return to classes, Wednesday.
