Warming shelters open in Metro Atlanta, North Ga. | List of locations

ATLANTA — Several warming centers are opening their doors in anticipation of the freezing conditions. 

11Alive has put together a list of warming centers that will be open as north Georgia braces for dropping temperatures. This list will be updated as information becomes available.

Metro Atlanta

DeKalb County

  • Fire Station 3, 100 N. Clarendon Avenue, Avondale Estates, GA 30002
  • Fire Station 4, 4540 Flakes Mill Road, Ellenwood, GA 30294
  • Fire Station 6, 2342 Flat Shoals Road, Atlanta, GA 30316
  • North DeKalb Senior Center, 3393 Malone Drive, Chamblee, GA 30341
  • Frontline Response International, 2585 Gresham Road, Atlanta 30316

Seniors needing assistance can call the Senior Link Line at (770) 322-2950 for an assessment of need.

Persons in DeKalb County who need homelessness assistance or housing services can contact DeKalb County Coordinated Entry by calling (404) 687-3500.

Fulton County

Atlanta Fulton Emergency Management Agency is updating the county's list of temporary warming shelters by city. Below is the updated list as of Nov. 27. 

Atlanta

Atlanta's temporary shelter will be open Nov. 27 and Nov. 28 from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. on both days.

Gwinnett County

Gwinnett County is opening five warming stations. The stations will be open through Nov. 27 and Nov. 28. The warming stations will open at 6 p.m. and close at 7 a.m.

  • Duluth
    Shorty Howell Park Activity Building | 2750 Pleasant Hill Road

The county opens its warming stations for temporary relief when temperatures reach 35 degrees and below.
