LILBURN, Ga. - Students at Parkview High School are being praised for quickly alerting administrators that a student had a gun on campus.
In a letter sent to parents on Thursday, the school's principal, David Smith, said, "Our administrators received a tip that a student showed other students a weapon while he was on campus."
During a search, they found the weapon. The student is now facing criminal and disciplinary charges.
Smith told parents in the letter they all have a role to play to ensure when it comes to ensuring the school remains a safe place.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the students who came forward to report this. In this day and age, it is critical that we say something if we see something," Smith said.
