A 27-year-old woman is now being charged for her alleged involvement in the death of a Six Flags Over Georgia employee last year.
The woman faces felony involuntary manslaughter and six counts of reckless conduct charges, according to warrants filed in the Cobb County Magistrate Court.
The deadly incident happened on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, when the 27-year-old woman at the park was driving a 2004 Ford Econoline -- transporting several adults and two juveniles, who police said were all employees at the park.
The passengers were in the rear cargo compartment of the van as they were driving through the theme park's property, according to police.
One passenger, 43-year-old Andrea Crook, of Villa Rica, was ejected from the van as the van made its way through a left, uphill turn on Harbor Way. Authorities said Crook sustained a serious head injury from the pavement. She was taken to Grady Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where police said she later died.
According to recent warrants, the 27-year-old driver allegedly operated the van with no seats or seatbelts in the cargo area with a sliding door, which did not have a way for Crook to restrain herself, ultimately leading to the ejection.
An online fundraiser that raised money for Crook's services remembered her as a devoted mom and wife who "loved fiercely."
The fundraiser, posted by Crook's husband, said she was "deeply devoted to her children, husband, pets, old childhood friends, new online friends, and anyone who welcomed her into their lives."
"She loved so many people and was very unconditional in her love," it added.
The park previously issued the following statement when the incident happened back in October:
"Our hearts and our thoughts are extended to the family of the employee as well as all those impacted by this tragic automobile accident; we are heartbroken," said Six Flags Over Georgia Park President, Dave Zellner.
Immediate support is being provided to those affected by the accident. The park will continue to provide full support and assistance to the Cobb County police as they investigate the accident.
