DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A woman was killed Friday afternoon after she was involved in a head-on crash with a garbage truck in DeKalb County, police said.
Officers responded to South Stone Mountain Lithonia Road and Coffee Road just before 3:30 in response to a crash. When officers got there, they saw a sedan and DeKalb County Sanitation truck had collided with each other.
The woman driving the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the garbage truck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said they heard from witnesses that the woman driving the sedan had drifted into oncoming traffic. However, investigators are still trying to find out what happened.
Both lanes of the road are still closed.
