Woman dies in Cobb County crash, police say

The 41-year-old woman crashed on Meadows Road near where it meets Worthington Drive.

AUSTELL, Ga. — A woman died Monday in a car crash in Austell, the Cobb County Police Department said Tuesday morning.

The incident happened just after noon on Meadows Road where it meets Worthington Drive. 

The Cobb department said in a release that 41-year-old Sharlyne Sobers was traveling west on Meadows Road when "for reasons unknown, Ms. Sobers veered from her lane off of the roadway and collided with a telephone pole on the shoulder."

Police said she was seriously injured in the crash and transported to Wellstar Cobb Hospital by an ambulance.

"Despite extensive resuscitation efforts, Ms. Sobers succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital," Cobb Police said.

The department added: "The investigation into this collision is ongoing. Anyone with information pertinent to the case is urged to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-3987."
