DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A woman is dead after a house fire in DeKalb County on Thursday night, fire officials said.
According to DeKalb County Fire, crews responded to a house fire shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Standard Drive. A man was rescued along with two dogs. However, an elderly woman died in the fire. Her name and exact age are currently unknown.
DeKalb County Fire said that no other houses were damaged and encouraged people to ensure they change their fire alarm batteries twice a year and have a fire safety plan.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown. This is still an active investigation, fire officials said.
