HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies in Hall County are investigating after the discovery of a woman's body in Lake Lanier.
The body was discovered by a fisherman just after 12 p.m. Friday, according to a statement from the Hall County Sheriff's Office. The body was found not far from a small parking area near the entrance to the Lake Lanier Islands - just off of Lanier Islands Parkway.
Investigators have tentatively identified the body based on a vehicle left in the nearby parking area. However, her name and age are being withheld pending notification of family.
The sheriff's office, Hall County Fire Services, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers all responded to the scene.
Meanwhile, the body has been sent to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner for an autopsy as the death investigation continues in Hall County.
