$1M Powerball ticket sold in Georgia | Winning numbers

Someone took home a $1 million prize in Georgia, and two others won $50,000.

ATLANTA — Editor's note: The video above is about whether you can stay anonymous after winning the Powerball or Mega Millions jackpot, depending on where you bought the ticket.

The jackpot is still growing after no one took home the big prize in Monday night's Powerball drawing, which means there's still another chance.

But for one lucky person in Georgia, they're waking up a millionaire. Two other Georgia tickets won $50,000.

The winning numbers were 2, 27, 31, 44 and 64, with a red Powerball number of 18. The "Power Play" multiplier in effect was 3x.

When is the Powerball drawing?

The Powerball drawing takes place live at 10:59 p.m. Eastern every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Tickets, which cost $2 per play, are sold in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Georgia winnings

According to figures from Georgia Lottery, the breakdown from the latest drawing includes:

  • $1,000,000: 1 winner
  • $50,000: 2 winner
  • $300:  5 winners (with Power Play)

What are my chances of winning the Powerball?

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are one in 292.2 million.

Over the past few years, huge lottery jackpots have become more common as lottery officials have changed the rules and ticket prices to boost top prizes.

Powerball's biggest change came in 2021 when officials decided to add a Monday drawing to its weekly lineup of Wednesday and Saturday evening drawings. At the time of the announcement, Powerball proclaimed the addition of the Monday drawing would lead to "larger, faster-growing jackpots."
