Meadowcreek High School to simulate Super Bowl LIII

The Meadowcreek football team will travel to the Mercedes Benz Stadium to simulate Sunday's big game vs. the Rams and Patriots .

NORCROSS, Ga. — Most young football players have the dream of becoming Tom Brady. For the Meadowcreek Football team, on Friday some will be very close to that reality.

“We’re going to be running through plays almost simulating a game,” Harry Torp, 11th grade offence of center, said.

The Mustangs will be at Mercedes Benz Stadium wearing LA Rams and Patriots jerseys simulating Sunday's big game.

“The Superbowl comes in town very few times in your lifetime, if it even does come to your town and just to get around and be involved is an awesome experience,” Coach Jason Carrera said.

Head Coach Jason Carrera said that their involvement with the Falcons helped them get this opportunity. Which comes as no surprise to the players who say they are very close with the team.

“We’ve been to youth camps, we’ve help run youth camps at Flowery Branch. We’ve been to the Dome to hold flags as a team,” Quincy Bonner, 11th grade quarterback, said.

The guys are looking forward to wearing the number of their favorite player. Coach Carrera says most would like to wear Patriots Jersey number 12, Tom Brady.

But, for one student, who admits he’s not a fan of the Patriots, if he must put on a Patriots Jersey he wants to wear the jersey of someone who is from Gwinnnett County, just like him.

“I would pick number 60, because I respect him as a center. He went to Wesleyan High School so I want to support a local kid,” Torp said.

Although very excited to play a role for the Super Bowl, these athletes see’s it as one step closer of actually playing in the big game their selves one day.

“It makes me think that I could get there one day. I will be playing in the NFL one day playing on that stage hopefully, that’s just the ultimate dream,” Bonner said.
