MILTON, Ga. — Officers in Milton are investigating reports of fake job offers being extended on behalf of the city.
After the city's human resources department was made aware of the fraudulent job offers, detectives began an investigation.
Following their initial investigation, detectives have subpoenaed both Microsoft and LinkedIn.
"We want to caution the public," said Milton city Human Resources Director Sam Trager. "All employment offers are executed through the city's human resources department using an official city email address."
A third party, posing as a city of Milton employee and using a Microsoft Outlook email account had proactively reached out to potential employment candidates to solicit interest and extend job offers associated with a remote, work-from-home position, allegedly tied to the city.
Anyone with information that includes similar unsolicited offers of employment from the city of Milton is asked to contact Detective Christopher Bradshaw at christopher.bradshaw@cityofmiltonga.us or telephone 678-242-2613.
