A White County murder suspect was arrested in Athens-Clarke County early Wednesday morning.
The suspect, Frederick Sauder, 27, has been charged for the murder of Wade Alexander, 66.
Alexander's body was discovered shot last Wednesday in his place of residence by his estranged wife and her boyfriend.
Athens-Clarke Police Department (ACCPD) received information from the Winder Police Department that they had gotten a notification through one of their Automatic License Plate Reader systems that indicated the suspect's car was in the area.
ACCPD officers who were patrolling the area located Sauder's vehicle in the parking lot of the Travel Inn.
Officers evacuated guests who were staying in nearby hotel rooms and set up a perimeter. They proceeded to negotiate with Sauder in an attempt to get him out of his room.
Sauder was uncooperative, leading officers to use chemical munitions and a distraction device to gain entry and took him into custody.
According to the White County Sheriff's Office, Sauder and Alexander had no previous relationship.
