#MuteRKelly trends as activists demand investigations into sex abuse allegations

They're also calling on companies like Apple and Spotify to drop R. Kelly from their streaming services.

There's a growing campaign taking aim at R&B singer R. Kelly over multiple allegations that he's sexually abused women for years.

The organization known as Time's Up is now telling people to #MuteRKelly. The hashtag was also trending on Twitter Monday night.

The group is citing several examples of alleged abuse, including a recent unverified report last year that Kelly rented homes in Atlanta and Chicago where he kept women as sex slaves.

Time's Up is now calling on new investigations into the singer, and a number of high-profile celebrities have tweeted their solidarity.

A statement from R. Kelly's management to Variety magazine reads in part that "Mr. Kelly is the target of a greedy, conscious and malicious conspiracy to demean him, his family, and the women with whom he spends his time."

The statement goes on to read that R. Kelly will continue to deny the claims.
