Because you're never too young to have your own series-length autobiographical drama — one of the newest projects in development from Lifetime, purveyors of schmaltzy made-for-TV movies and surprisingly good TV series, is a scripted series based on the life story of Selena Gomez.
Gomez will executive-produce the series, which follows her rise to fame as a Disney Channel actress-turned-pop star — following in the steps of Nicki Minaj, who's currently producing a comedy about her childhood on Freeform (formerly ABC Family). Kevin Spacey also signed on to executive-produce.
Now, the real questions: Which lucky actress will get to play Gomez, and who will portray the many other young celebs she's grown up with over the years, from her Disney days (Miley Cyrus, Zac Efron, the Jonas Brothers) through her #squad membership (Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner)? And how will the series dramatize the greatest romance of the 21st century, the millennial generation's Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor: Jelena?
The untitled series is still in development, so stay tuned for more.
