What to expect when Will and Kate get to N.Y., D.C.

What will they do, where will they go and, most important, what will she wear now that she's five months pregnant? Also, where can we see them?

Such are the questions bubbling in New York and Washington this weekend as both cities get ready for the first-ever visits by Prince William and Duchess Kate of Cambridge, due to arrive Sunday evening for a pop-over visit mainly focused on their charity work.

Will and Kate departed London's Heaththrow airport on a commercial flight Sunday morning, and are expected to arrive in New York by 5 p.m. ET.

Who's the most excited? The media, of course: Welcome to the USA, Will and Kate, and don't forget to pose for our cameras.

Big news announced Friday: Will (but not Kate) will meet President Obama and Vice President Biden at the White House on Monday, to back the young royal on his wildlife conservation efforts, and to underscore the continuing ties between the USA and the U.K.

Besides Will's face time with POTUS, their to-do list includes charity fundraising, a visit to the September 11 Memorial Museum, an NBA game, the Empire State Building, meet-and-greets with Brits in New York (Hello, Sting!), and a gala dinner at theMetropolitan Museum of Art attended by the great and good and glittery of the Big Apple.

Here's a rundown:

Sunday

They arrive in the early evening and go directly to the historic Carlyle Hotel on the edge of Central Park. It's one of New York's swankiest, according to People, and the place where his late mother, Princess Diana, stayed when she visited New York in the 1980s.

Afterwards, they go to a private reception and dinner for American Friends of the Royal Foundation. The New York Post reported it's at the home of Blackstone Group senior managing director John Studzinski, president of the friends group. Among the guests expected: Princess Eugenie, Will's cousin, who lives in New York and works for an auction house founded by close friends of the young royals.

Monday

Will pops down to Washington in the morning, meets with Obama and Biden in separate meetings at the White House. Then it's over to the World Bank where he will attend a conference and make a speech about reigning in the illegal trade in wildlife, one of his passions.

Meanwhile, in New York, Kate will visit a child development center in Harlem with NY first lady Chirlane McCray, and attend a lunch at the British Consul General's residence to celebrate British achievers in New York.

In the evening, Will will return and join Kate at the residence for a reception to celebrate The Tusk Trust, United for Wildlife and other wildlife conservation groups. Hillary and Chelsea Clinton will be there, representing the Clinton Foundation which is involved in elephant protection.

Then it's off to Brooklyn for an NBA game, theBrooklyn Nets vs. Cleveland Cavaliers. Don't be surprised when the cameras flash if, as expected, they meet Jay Z and Beyoncé, who have a part ownership in the Nets, and "The King" LeBron James of the Cavs.

Tuesday

A somber start to the day with a tour of the new National September 11 Memorial Museum and a visit to the Memorial Reflecting Pools.

Next they will visit two more child-development charities, The Door and CityKids, and attend a reception at NeueHouse, a shared-work-space for creators, to celebrate British creative talent in New York.

Then Will will go alone to the Empire State Building for a reception for Brit entrepreneurs, accompanied by Mayor Bill de Blasio.

They end the day at a formal dinner for 450 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art to raise scholarship money for their alma mater, St. Andrews University in Scotland, celebrating its 600th anniversary.

The dinner will take place in the museum's huge hall for ancient Egyptian art, with tables ($10,000 a head for tickets) surrounding the famous Temple of Dendur. On the menu,an auction for such goodies as an overnight stay at Highclere Castle, the stand-in stately mansion on Downton Abbey.

Tom Hanks, whose daughter attended St. Andrews, is to give the after-dinner toast.Mary-Kate Olsen also has been mentioned as a guest, along with her banker boyfriend,Olivier Sarkozy, the brother of the former French president, and opera star Renée Fleming will sing.

After the dinner wraps, they're off to the airport to make their commercial flight back to London.

Unless they do some shopping at duty free at the airport, there's only one thing not on their to-do list, as noted by someone on Twitter:
