ORMOND BEACH, Fla. — The search for a 4-year-old boy in Florida has ended tragically, according to authorities.
Waylon Childs was last seen Sunday in the area of Fleming Avenue near Parkview Lane in Ormond Beach, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) stated in an alert.
According to Ormond Beach police, Childs' father was at a park with his three children, all under the age of 5, when Waylon went missing.
Childs was described as 3 feet tall and 30 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a maroon shirt, maroon sweatpants, and gray shoes.
FDLE said in a previous release that those looking for Childs should "CHECK WATER."
Around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, FDLE provided an update saying in part, "It is with sadness that we report the child is deceased. Our prayers go out to Waylon's family, loved ones and community."
Anyone with information on where he was was asked to call the Ormond Beach Police Department at 386-677-0731 or 911.
