FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — The AFC Champion New England Patriots took off from Boston to head for Atlanta and Super Bowl LIII.
Hundreds of fans lined up early outside Gillette Stadium in suburban Foxborough, Mass., ready to send their team off at a morning rally.
According to NBC Boston, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was looking forward to the possibility of breaking yet another record at next week's Super Bowl to become the most decorated NFL player.
Brady already has five Super Bowl rings and is the most decorated quarterback in Super Bowl history. A victory over the Rams would give him a sixth ring, breaking a tie with Hall of Fame defensive end Charles Haley for overall honors.
"I don't take anything for granted, I really don't," Brady told NBC Boston. "To get to this point is really exceptional and I'm proud of the guys for making this commitment."
After the rally, the team headed to T.F. Green Airport in Providence for their flight to Atlanta. They landed at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport at about 4:25 p.m.
The plane carrying the NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams is expected to follow, landing in Atlanta several hours later, at 7:40 p.m.
