GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Officials confirm a junior ROTC instructor resigned at the end of last month after students reported he made "inappropriate comments."
According to Gwinnett County Schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach, Maj. Ron Tootle resigned Jan. 30 during a joint Title IX-Human Resources investigation. Tootle, a JROTC instructor at Parkview High School, had been an employee at the school since 2010. He cited "personal reasons" for the resignation.
The investigation was sparked after students reported Tootle made inappropriate comments in front of students that made them feel uncomfortable. Officials would not say what those comments were, nor did they say when they happened.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time an employee of this school has been accused of misconduct. In May 2017, a former University of Georgia football player turned math teacher also resigned from his position after he was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. Michael "Mikey" Henderson had reportedly been having a sexual relationship with a student for more than a year and a half. The 32-year-old was charged with sexual assault as a result.
A few months later, in October 2017, a group of six students from the school's basketball team was suspended for alleged sexual misconduct. The school took disciplinary action against the students after the incident, and they were all charged with sexual misconduct.
