DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — A photo showing food ordered by students on Uber Eats confiscated is sparking debate online.
One of 11Alive's Morning Rush Insiders shared the post in our Facebook group, saying she could see both sides.
The post, written by an apparent high school principal in DeKalb County, asked how educators could possibly teach when students are constantly going outside to pick up food deliveries from Uber. The photo shows deliveries of McDonald's, wings and fries, and more.
"No!!! You cannot have Uber Eats deliver food to school!!!!," the post reads. "This is what was collected after ONE hour!!!!! We got 1200 kids. Is it worth the fight? Is this the NEW NORMAL??? We are working hard to HOLD the line!!!!!"
Folks are sounding off about it - some were mad that the school was confiscating the food students paid for with their own money. Others were concerned about students' safety, saying they would be worried about random people showing up at their children's school, something the poster addressed.
"Think about safety and logistics of 1000 students randomly calling and meeting Uber on the street all times of the day," he added.
